More Colleges Decline to Participate in U.S. News & World Report Rankings

There is a round of debated going on for participating in U.S. News rankings. These rankings were and still are considered most authentic to locate the best schools. However, dozens of schools have refused to fill out surveys used to calculate ranks, and efforts are now afoot for a collective boycott.

I firmly believe that any rankings TO BELIEVE OR NOT TO BELIEVE is in the hands of the student, professor or the law school in general. Yes the pressures of these rankings are soaring high as far as the popularity of the school is concerned. Students in 2L and 3L are (not forgetting those in the other schools)gravely affected by these rankings. It is very essential for the community NOT TO TAKE THESE RANKINGS TO THE CORE OF THEIR HEART. Ranking a school on the basis of various parameters is just not possible. I totally agree on "This is a bad way of talking about an education. [Students] aren't consumers shopping for a product." Any one listening.

i agree with you, freaky. i do think that it wouldn't be prudent to take these rankings too seriously.

however, that's the way it's been forever! that's one of the main reasons why i looked up to berkeley so much when i was an undergrad. i knew the reputation. i knew that i could learn a lot from the professors. and i did! it's one of the main reasons why i applied for boalt.

yes, how a school is ranked is very questionable, but it does help in allowing employers to "ROUGHLY" gauge your previous training.
