The Morning Line: Dave in Dixie Added to Belmont Fray
Today’s news brings considerably more interest in the Belmont Stakes, which will be run eight days from today. Richard Rosenblatt for The Associated Press notes the absence of star power in the Belmont but writes that the “Belmont Stakes could still turn out to be a starting point for a championship season.” Jay Hovdey in The Daily Racing Form strikes a somewhat similar note saying “There are hopes being raised that a colt could emerge from this year’s Belmont Stakes and go on to prove himself to be one of the best of the division, if not the outright champion.”
