Passing the Bar Exam...Will I or Won't I?
By Brendon Buthello

Bar exams are forever in the news! Take for instance, the California bar exam candidates who have individual bar review needs.  Those who have come from other states and sitting for the California bar exam face a greater challenge than their peers who are from California themselves. Preparation for the demands of the bar exam is important because experience in law practice does not bode down to the skill sets required for clearing the bar exam. "Law practice bears little resemblance to the bar exam," so says Fedora J. Nick, Execbar's managing director and bar review expert according to a news report. The Bar needs to be crossed and passed, no two ways about it. They spell the difference between wasting four years of law school and success as a lawyer. But what is surprising is that the society regards these lawyers highly, even higher than that of scientists, great entrepreneurs, and social thinkers. Additionally, contrary to popular belief, not many of the lawyers are original thinkers.  The premium tag has forced thousands every year to join the so-called "noble profession" without thinking whether they are fit enough to be good lawyers. Recent passing levels range from around 16-30%, which is pathetic and the recent rate of 24.58% is termed generous by the analysts. This means that three out of the four people fail and yet there are thousands trying to join the race. The mortality rate is even higher for those who couldn’t crack it for the first time.Interestingly, Supreme Bar Review which is one of the respected names in bar exam preparation has announced the launch of special iPhone applications which can help law students to prepare for the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE). The applications will actually include the seven subjects tested on the MBE, including: Constitutional Law, Contracts & Sales, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, Real Property, and Torts. The tool is designed by Netframes, and each application can be bought from the Apple iTunes Store and downloaded and installed on any iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. The applications will feature a video of the lectures of the subject and a complete set of MBE-style practice questions with answers. The other features are details of the topics, access to handouts, note-writing function, search, e-mail and telephone support within the app. These bar exams are really getting innovative, yet funnier, every year!
