DLA Piper further expands Investment Funds Practice with the arrival of Terrence Davis
Â
DLA Piper continues to expand the Investment Funds Practice with the arrival of Terrence Davis as a partner in the Atlanta office. He is joined by of counsel Tanya Boyle in Atlanta and senior attorney Justin Tait in Miami.
Â
Davis and his team focus on advising a variety of registered funds, as well as their investment advisers and independent board members, with a particular emphasis on products designed for high net worth and retail investors. Davis advises clients on the full range of issues facing registered funds, their independent directors and investment advisers, including SEC exemptive relief applications and compliance, registration and disclosure matters, seed capital and other funding transactions, financing arrangements, restructurings, and acquisitions.
Â
Examples of the team’s notable work include launching one of the first private infrastructure focused interval funds available to retail investors; completing several of the first mutual fund to ETF conversions; negotiating a syndicated credit facility for a closed-end interval fund; negotiating a bankruptcy remote credit facility on behalf of a closed-end fund; and advising a business development company in a first of its kind reorganization into a closed-end interval fund.
Â
“We are thrilled to welcome Terry and his team to the firm,” said Nicole Brennig, US co-chair of the Investment Funds practice. “One of our strategic goals is to provide market participants in the investment funds space with a comprehensive suite of services, including registered funds, interval funds, and other 40 Act funds. Terry and his team bring a wealth of experience in this area and will be a valuable addition to clients interested in these product offerings.”
Â
“Terry has a sterling reputation for managing complex fund and securities matters, and we’re excited to work alongside him,” said Gerry Williams, managing partner of DLA Piper’s Atlanta office.
Â
The firm’s US Investment Funds Practice group, together with its global investment funds team, provides a dynamic, integrated service to sponsors, fund managers and institutional investors, supported by the firm’s international tax and regulatory networks. The team advises clients on the full spectrum of investment funds, all major investment strategies and all stages of an investment fund's life cycle.
