Robert Newman - leading privacy, advertising, and brand protection attorney - joins Reed Smith as a partner
Â
Reed Smith today announced the addition of pioneering data privacy, advertising, and brand protection partner Robert Newman. Formerly the co-chair of Privacy, Security & Data Innovations at Loeb & Loeb LLP and co-leader of the Global Privacy & Data Security Task Force at Winston & Strawn LLP, Newman has joined Reed Smith’s global Entertainment & Media Industry Group as a partner in the firm’s Chicago office.
Â
Recognized as a “Client Service All-Star” by the BTI Consulting Group, Newman works in the full spectrum of areas related to data privacy, advertising, and brand protection. Newman has extensive experience advising top consumer brands, leading entertainers, content creators, publishers, and advertising agencies on all matters of data privacy, marketing, and intellectual property issues, with a particular focus on risk reduction in connection with emerging regulations and technologies, big data, and the future of advertising.
Â
“Rob works closely with clients to both protect their data and harness the power of it, while assuring that they are staying within the laws of an ever-evolving cross-border patchwork of regulatory regimes,” said Gregor Pryor, co-chair of Reed Smith’s Entertainment & Media Industry Group. “Rob’s focus on innovation is a perfect fit with our firm’s culture, and his extensive, well-rounded capabilities add further depth to our top-tier global advertising practice.”
Â
Reed Smith’s multi-national platform coupled with its cross-disciplinary skill in other legal areas -- including corporate, labor and employment, and litigation – as well as its existing deep bench in advertising, were key reasons Newman decided to make the move to the firm.
