Corporate Finance Attorney Robert J. Stein Joins Akerman
Summary: Akerman strengthened its corporate practice with the addition of a new partner to its New York office.

Akerman LLP welcomed a new partner to their New York Corporate Finance group. Robert J. Stein will be part of the top 100 U.S. law firm’s corporate, finance and private equity practice as the co-chair of the Corporate Finance and Lending Practice. He joins from Kirkland & Ellis’ debt finance group.
Co-chair Carl Roston of the Corporate Practice Group said, “Robby is a well-respected and exceptionally talented finance lawyer, whose extensive experience will deepen our strength in effectively and rapidly closing private equity and other corporate transactions while effectively mitigating risk. Robby’s practice is a perfect complement to our growing corporate group and his addition further advances our capabilities in serving sophisticated private equity and other corporate clients nationwide.â€
Stein will focus his practice on acquisition and other leveraged financing transactions for private equity sponsors, their portfolio companies and public and private companies. His recent work has involved sponsor-backed clients in U.S. and international markets.

Stein earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and executive editor of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law, and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
