Nelson Mullins Welcomes Lobbyist to Washington D.C. Office

Summary: The Washington D.C. office of Nelson Mullins welcomed a new partner to their team, the former Governors Association chief lobbyist.
Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough has brought on a highly qualified member of their team. The former deputy director of the National Governors Association, David C. Quam, will be working from the Washington D.C. office as a partner. Quam will advise clients on coordinated state and federal policy solutions that involve legislative and executive branches of all levels of government.

While at the National Governors Association serving as the deputy director, Quam lead the governors’ policy work and served as an executive in guiding the strategic direction and management of the association. He served as the chief advocate and negotiator of the nation’s governors before Congress, the White House, and federal agencies for 13 years.

Before working at the NGA, he worked in government relations services for a D.C. law firm, served as director of International Affairs and general counsel at International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition Inc, and as counsel for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution.

Quam earned his B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University and his J.D. from the Vanderbilt University School of Law.
