Van Dorn has practiced in the other major cities of London, Hong Kong, and Washington D.C. His focus will be on corporate securities law and advising issuers, broker-dealers, underwriters, and other financial institutions on securities and capital market transactions.

Chair of the Business Group, John Gherlein said, “Walter has a great deal of experience in the capital markets arena, particularly representing foreign issuers, and his working knowledge of the SEC gives him unique insights into U.S. securities law and regulations. His highly specialized experience will serve as a valuable resource for our clients seeking this type of counsel.”

Before entering private practice, Van Dorn was special counsel in the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance. There he dealt with offerings of equity services and ADRs, offerings of debt securities, securities offerings under the multijurisdictional disclosure system with Canada, mergers and acquisitions, and tender offers and “going private” transactions.

New York Managing Partner George Stamboulidis said, “I couldn’t be more pleased that Walter decided to join our firm. Our global corporate clients will benefit from his skills and familiarity with the SEC as they look to finance their growth.”

Van Dorn received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
